Policy Internship

TITLE:                             Policy Intern

LOCATION:                    Washington, D.C./Remote/Hybrid

REPORTS TO:                Senior Advocacy Manager

Friends of the Global Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria seeks interns for the Winter/Spring 2025 semester to assist the Policy team. The intern will support the Policy team in its advocacy on behalf of the Global Fund, the world’s largest multilateral funder of global health grants in low- and middle-income countries.

The intern will support the Policy team with research related to the US Congress, foreign policy, infectious diseases and human rights. Interns will also be responsible for assisting in Congressional advocacy, attending briefings, organizing advocacy events, tracking government processes and other tasks as required.

A stipend will be provided to help cover living expenses. Interns are expected to commit a minimum of 15 hours per week. In-person, remote or hybrid applicants will be considered.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Familiarity with US legislative processes and politics
  • Knowledge of, or interest, in global health policy and foreign policy
  • Willingness to ask questions and receive constructive advice
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills

Required Experience

  • Must be a current graduate or undergraduate student
  • Experience working in Congress or with an advocacy organization is preferred

Interns receive a $2,500 stipend if available for 20 hrs. per week, or a prorated amount if only available 15 hrs. a week to help cover living expenses over the course of their internship.  Friends U.S. is happy to provide course credit as well.
