December 11, 2023
On December 8th, Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) and in total 207 members of the Faith-Based Coalition for the Global Fund sent a letter to the Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate and House Appropriations Committees and Subcommittees on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs to thank them for the House and Senate fiscal year 2024 bills including robust funding the Global Fund. The letter encouraged the highest feasible figure in final enacted appropriations for lifesaving impact.

Dear Senator Murray, Senator Collins, Senator Coons, Senator Graham, Chairwoman Granger, Ranking Member DeLauro, Chairman Diaz Balart, Ranking Member Lee:
On behalf of the faith leaders across our nation, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to you, the leaders of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees and Subcommittees on State and Foreign Operations, for your tireless dedication to support the work of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund). Thank you for your personal leadership in boldly ensuring that the Global Fund receives the highest appropriation possible under U.S. law in the House and Senate bills—as this group urged in our letter of March 8, 2023.
We hope your commitment to this significant investment delivering so manifestly for the poor, stigmatized and neglected in low- and middle-income countries will be reflected in a final fiscal year 2024 appropriation.
The Global Fund partnership is dedicated to the value of every life and equitable access to healthcare. The program’s most recent Results Report shows that the partnership has saved 59 million lives since its
inception in 2002. It prioritizes investments in populations that are most vulnerable to global health risks, like young women and girls. In 2022 alone, HIV prevention programs reached 2.5 million adolescent girls and young women in countries where the HIV burden is the highest.
Your leadership for the Global Fund resonates deeply within our congregations and communities, affirming our shared values of compassion, justice and solidarity. We thank you for thoughtfully and prayerfully fostering global health and well-being. We stand ready to work with you at any time to advance your vision.
Sincerely,
Senator Bill Frist, MD
Chairman, Advisory Board, 2030 Collaborative
