180 faith leaders from across the country, including former Senator Bill Frist (R- TN), sent a letter to Chairwoman Nita Lowey, Ranking Member Kay Granger, Ranking Member Harold Rogers, Chairman Richard Shelby, Ranking Member Patrick Leahy and Chairman Lindsey Graham thanking leaders on the House and Senate Appropriations Committees and Subcommittees on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs (SFOPS) for their strong backing of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
The letter states, “We are so thankful that both the House and Senate bills and their reports provide for the first increase for Global Fund in six years, at $1,560,000,000; affirm they be fully disbursed up to the limits allowed under law; and anticipate a commitment over the Global Fund’s 2020-2022 Replenishment period.”
