New Senior Staff Join Team
Washington, D.C., January 29, 2013 — Friends of the Global Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria today announced the appointment of two new senior leaders: Peggy Knudson as Vice President for Development and Juliet Glassroth as Director of Communications. Both will help to support Friends’ mission of educating, engaging and mobilizing U.S. lawmakers, key influencers and others in support of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria’s critical, lifesaving work.
Knudson will lead Friends’ development and fundraising efforts, as well as work closely with the Board of Directors to support the organization’s mission. Prior to joining Friends, Peggy held a variety of development roles at organizations including the Center for American Progress and the Brookings Institution. She also served as an Associate Senior Editor for the Chronicle of Philanthropy. She began her career working for the German Marshall Fund of the United States, fostering a U.S.-German dialogue.
Glassroth will lead the organization’s strategic communications efforts. She comes to Friends with a diverse background in strategic communications and public relations. In addition to working for global consulting firms PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte, she has held leadership positions at several national PR agencies including Hill & Knowlton and Ruder Finn, where she consulted for clients in both the corporate and nonprofit environments.
“I extend a warm welcome to Juliet and Peggy as the newest members of Friends’ senior management,” said Friends President Deborah Derrick. “As we look to not only maintain but redouble our efforts in fighting these three diseases, I believe we have a great team in place to take our mission to the next level.”
